CINÉ-CLUB SERIES

UN AIR DE FAMILLE by Cedric Klapisch

In French with English Subtitles

Saturday, May 19th at 1:30 pm at Alliance Française de Milwaukee

$5/Free for AF Members

Part of the Exemplary French Film Directors Series exploring exemplary film in the context of learning about the biography and personal style of the auteur.

Un Air de Famille is a sharp and biting comic drama about a dysfunctional family that gets together for dinner once a week, and what happens when they come together for an evening dinner/family outing: two brothers (and their wives), the tomboy sister (and her secret boyfriend), and their overbearing mother who is always making barbed, hurtful remarks (in the form of being "helpful" or dispensing motherly advice.) When they come together, all hell breaks out and the hilarity begins.

Randy Williams is past President of the Alliance Française de Chicago and current member of the Alliance Française de Milwaukee. The French government has designated him Chevalier in both the Order of Arts and Letters and the National Order of Merit. Discussions will be insightful and fun.

Pre-film discussion in English will begin at 1:30 p.m. and film presentations at approximately 1:45 p.m. Discussion will also follow the film screening.
